Dawud's Back-Catalog of Spiritual Nasheed

Now Available for Digital Sale
November 28, 2011

Dawud is pleased to announce that his entire back-catalog of spiritual nasheed will be available internationally for digital sale through all reputable on-line music stores (including CD Baby and iTunes) in coming weeks.

Between 1996 and 2003 Dawud released several albums of anasheed (spiritual hymns drawn from Qur'anic philosophy and recorded with only vocals and light percussion,) as well as many spoken-word recordings of meditative reflection and Qur'anic recitation.  Over the years, these works have only been officially available on CD directly from their US based producer Sound Vision.Com or through independent re-sellers in the USA and UK.

Due to high public demand from around the world Sound Vision.Com has now teamed up with Silk Route Media to have the treasured collection distributed digitally in all global territories.

Popular Dawud Wharnsby anasheed like "The Veil", "The People of The Boxes" and "Why Are The Drums So Silent", as well as children's favourites like "The Blue Sky Is Blue (Like Blue Bubble Gum)", "The Crazy Spots I've Prayed" and "Madinah Tun Nabi" will now be just a click away for those who's cassette or CD versions of the songs may have worn out long ago.

Also being made available will be Dawud's duets with Canadian singer Irfan Makki (on the 1999 "Light Upon Light" compilation), his collaboration with Zain Bhikha and Yusuf Islam ("The Prophet's Hands"), his "Timeless Wisdom" series of Qur'anic recitation with English translation, and several educational songs for children produced for the "Adam's World" DVD series ~ including "28 Letters (The Things We want To Say)" which, to date, has never been available in audio format.

Dawud Returns From Autumn USA/UK Tour
November 25, 2011

Dawud's brief autumn 2011 tour has wrapped up with great success and the introduction of his new book "A Picnic of Poems" to thousands of new listeners.

With fourteen performances, in six different cities of two countries, Dawud wasted no time on the road ~ stopping first to sing in Raleigh North Carolina for "The Abraham Jam" with his friends David LaMotte (centre) and Dan Nichols (left). The artists celebrated their love of music and mutual approaches to faith rooted in Abrahamic tradition, enjoying time with hundreds of listeners of many spiritual journeys. While in North Carolina the trio's local NPR interview on WUNC FM's "All Things Considered" gave them a chance to explain why they felt their teaming was so important to people of faith and social conscious.

Onward to the United Kingdom Dawud offered up a basket full of new songs (from his book "A Picnic of Poems") to warm audiences in Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham, Luton and London. Celebrating simplicity and aiming at families with small children, Dawud had young and old alike snapping, singing, hooting, stomping and drumming along with his two hour performances that all wrapped up with lengthy and personal book signing sessions. Tears of laughter and tears of emotion trickled along with the words and messages of Dawud's songs and narratives, often stemming from stories of his own life as a father of two, trying to embrace Simple Living and learn what it means to live with "enough".

Introducing ~ Dawud's New Assistants!

October 24, 2011

Due to an overwhelming work load, phenomenal travel schedule and a personal desire to ensure his writing, recording and family time are not jeopardized, Dawud is pleased to announce that he is now being assisted with his performance bookings and media requests internationally.

Two of Dawud's very close friends have have agreed to act as his personal assistants in various territories.

Saad Omar of Rezjan Artist Management will manage all of Dawud's North American bookings and media requests. Friends for almost a decade, Saad and Dawud have co-written music and travelled extensively together across the USA with the Poetic Vision Tour (an initiative also directed by Mr. Omar).

In the United Kingdom, Dawud is pleased to have another Bristol based friend as his personal representative to all media agencies and perspective concert hosts.

In all other global territories, Dawud will be represented by Silk Route Media, a Colorado, based media entity which also began distributing Dawud's music in 2010.

"For over 20 years I have managed myself and almost all aspects of my work. Beyond just writing and recording, I have also handled all of my own business administration ~ from web-site updates and accounting, to flight bookings and performance fee negotiations.

That work load has really been a strain on my ability to write and produce new material.  I've always tried to remain as close to my supporters as possible ~ and that won't change ~ but with a family now and two small kids, I do need help keeping up with the sheer work load of being an independent artist.

I've no doubt that my new colleagues in the USA and UK will help take off some of my strain, ensuring I am actually better able to follow up with friends and supporters more efficiently and also dedicate myself more seriously to my real passion for writing."
